Classic Margherita Pizza Recipe (Beginner Friendly)

Simple, fresh, and full of authentic Italian flavor 🇮🇹

🧾 Ingredients (Makes 2 medium pizzas)

🔸 For the Dough:
2½ cups all-purpose flour (about 300g)
1 tsp instant dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
¾ cup warm water (180ml)
2 tbsp olive oil
¾ tsp salt

🔸 For the Sauce:
½ cup tomato sauce (plain or with herbs)
1 tsp olive oil
1 small garlic clove (minced – optional)
Pinch of salt + dried oregano

🔸 For the Topping:
1 ball fresh mozzarella (or ½ cup shredded mozzarella)
Fresh basil leaves
Drizzle of olive oil
Optional: cherry tomatoes

⏱️ Instructions

1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Wait 10 minutes until frothy.
2. Add olive oil, then flour gradually to form dough. Add salt and knead 8–10 minutes.
3. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
4. Heat olive oil, add garlic (optional), then tomato sauce, salt, and oregano. Simmer 4–5 minutes.
5. Divide dough into 2 and roll into circles.
6. Spread sauce, add mozzarella, and basil leaves. Add cherry tomatoes if desired.
7. Bake at 230–250°C (450°F) for 8–12 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

🍽️ Serving Tips:

Drizzle olive oil after baking and add fresh basil. Serve hot immediately.
